aargh, I cracked

you know how I said I wasn’t buying more yarn … ummm …. somehow this is what arrived in the post this morning

It’s son’s fault. He said he wanted his next socks to be green. I denied having any green wool. He pointed to the stash, still on display in broad daylight

Ah. Sorry son, much as I love you, no 8 year old is getting socks made from my Violet Green merino. So I had to go and get him some green sock yarn of his own, and somehow some more merino fell into my virtual shopping basket. Oh and I got some more St Ives sock yarn from ebay, complete bargain so couldn’t resist. Is good yarn for men’s socks, particularly ones who refuse to countenance colour or stripes in their socks. 2 balls is not enough for dad-socks but will be for partner-socks.

confession is good for the soul

Our bed collapsed last night. This has forced my stash out from the darkness under the bed into the cold light of day. Also it means my other half has seen all of my stash in one place for the first time. Ooops. He didn’t say anything, but I’m not sure what he’s thinking … Anyway I am going the put the eyelash yarn (wtf was I thinking?) up for offer on the UK yarn karma swap group on lovely ravelry. I love the karma swaps, new yarn for free hurah.

my credit card’s last hurrah

I got two yarn deliveries this morning, cashmerino & needles from Get Knitted and St Ives sock yarn from Texere (the extra balls I need – I had 2 balls of each of 3 colours but the yardage is short so better get another of each to be on the safe side – plus 3 balls of an additional colour, as the postage is the same for 3 balls or 6). I am now on a yarn diet, and so this will be the last sock yarn I buy for a long long time. I have plenty of it now, enough to meet any requirements (bright coloured, striped, variegated, plain, cotton, self-patterning, 4ply, dk). The cashmerino is for the ‘emergency presents’ box, in case I need to knock up a scarf in a hurry. I might need to buy some non-sock yarn (for pink shrug a small girl wants) but I will check my stash before buying more. I can do this, I can I can I can. Heh.
